Ralf Rangnick will remove all doubt over his future as Manchester United manager if he wins the Champions League, one pundit has said.
The German tactician arrived at Old Trafford in November as interim manager following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s exit. The 63-year-old has faced reports of criticism from players for his tactics and underwhelming impact.
However, Rio Ferdinand recently backed Rangnick with a statistic that, for the pundit, outlined the most important conclusion from the manager’s time so far at Old Trafford.
United’s patchy form this season has made a top-four Premier League finish the side’s top priority. However, they are still in the Champions League. Indeed, they took a 1-1 draw away from Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their last 16 tie.
They therefore have a chance of progressing to the quarter-finals. While they are nevertheless not one of the favourites for European glory, former Man Utd striker Louis Saha has insisted that Rangnick can defy the odds.
In potentially winning the Champions League, Saha added that Rangnick would remove all doubt over his future.
