Rangers outline expectations for Manchester United loanee Amad and give debut hint

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is excited to see what Manchester United prospect Amad can provide north of the border.

A year on from his Old Trafford arrival — for a fee that could rise to £37million from Atalanta — the Ivorian winger has agreed to spend the rest of this season on loan with the Scottish champions, putting put pen to paper on a temporary deal at Ibrox on Thursday afternoon.

Having got that January transfer over the line before the registration cut-off, Rangers will be able to call upon the teenager for his debut against Ross County this Saturday lunchtime (12.30pm).

The game may give Amad the chance to acclimatise to his new surroundings before the small matter of an Old Firm derby on Wednesday night.

Rangers are four points clear of bitter rivals Celtic heading into their double header, as they look to defend the title they won under Steven Gerrard last season in Scotland.

Speaking about the move, Gerrard's successor Van Bronckhorst told The Herald : "We are very excited about [Amad] Diallo and very happy he wanted to join us for the remainder of this season. Really happy we can bring in a player with his quality.

"We welcome back Joe Aribo, he has had a good rest and is ready. Diallo will also be in the squad tomorrow.

"Diallo is a young player who wants to play games, we are bringing him to our club to add value to our team. Like any other player in the squad, he has to perform to play, but I'm full of confidence that he will deliver."
