Rangers' John Lundstram red carded for wild tackle in 2-2 draw vs Hibernian
John Lundstram enjoyed a stellar debut campaign at Rangers.
The former Everton man joined the Glasgow-based club last summer from Sheffield United and quickly became a mainstay in Gio van Bronckhorst’s team.
Lundstram played 48 games for Rangers across all competitions in 2021/22 and scored four goals – one of them during a famous 4-2 victory away at Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Europa League.
He really has proven to be a brilliant piece of business by the Scottish side, although the 28-year-old had a moment to forget in a blue jersey on Saturday afternoon.
In the second half of Rangers’ trip to Hibernian, Lundstram was shown a straight red card for one of the most cynical fouls you’re ever likely to see in a professional setting.
The midfielder brutally hacked down an opposing player to halt a Hibernian counterattack while Rangers were 2-1 ahead thanks to goals from James Tavernier and Tom Lawrence.
There was a covering defender, but even that wasn’t enough to spare Lundstram from the severe punishment of a red card.
