Rangers bridged huge £190 million gulf to shock Borussia Dortmund but roles are reversed for Red Star Belgrade

Rangers completed the impossible by overcoming German giants Borussia Dortmund to progress into the Europa League last 16.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side won 4-2 in Germany last week then followed that historic victory up with a thrilling 2-2 draw in Glasgow last night, setting up a next round tie against Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade.

They also bridged a remarkable financial gap with over £190million the difference between the Bundesliga side, emphasising the sheer achievement of the scalp.

Record Sport take a deeper look at the gulf in finances between the sides.

Rangers next Euro opponents Red Star Belgrade finished top of Europa League group F, losing only once.

Although the Serbians average player value is only around £2million so some might say the draw is favourable for Rangers to go all the way in Europe's second elite competition.

The first leg will be at Ibrox on 10 March with the return on 17 March.

Red Star won the Serbian Super Liga for the seventh time last season, but Dejan Stankovic's side currently lie second, five points behind city rivals Partizan.
