Rangers B triumph over Celtic in Glasgow Cup shootout after two Hoops first team injuries and full time rammy

Rangers B stormed into the Glasgow Cup Final after beating Celtic 5-4 on penalties.

And it was rising star Charlie McCann who smashed home the winning spot kick after Ben Wylie's effort was denied by Lewis Budinauckas.

Rangers will face either Queen's Park or Clyde in the final following 90 minutes of breathless football that finished 2-2.

First team Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou meanwhile will also hope there's no lasting damage after knocks to Chris Jullien and Karamoko Dembele.

The Frenchman was able to see out the 90 minutes at Rangers’ training ground in Milngavie but young winger Dembele was replaced in the final moments before the shootout.

Celtic started the game brightly and it was first team star Mikey Johnston who gave them the lead 12 minutes in, turning home a neat cut-back.

He was a man on a mission in the first half, coming close from a free-kick just minutes after his opener.

But with about 10 minutes to go until the break Ross McCausland produced the leveller with a fine finish on the volley from the edge of the area.

On a warm spring afternoon at Auchenhowie the game was halted time after time for a succession of injuries but Celtic fans will have been glad to note that Jullien wasn't required to go off.

Wide man Dembele then lit up the semi-final, tearing down the right side before squaring for Ben Summers, who was able to slide the ball under home keeper Budinauckas.

But Rangers responded once more as Cole McKinnon levelled it up again and the tie looked destined for penalties as Dembele was replaced by Rocco Vata in the final moments.
