Randy Orton calls major WWE star “one of the best of his generation”

Randy Orton’s back catalogue of opponents in WWE reads like a who’s-who of legends and WWE Hall of Famers. 

From his early dealings with Ric Flair and The Undertaker, to bitter rivalries with John Cena and Triple H, Orton has faced pretty much everyone there is to face in his two decades in WWE. So, when someone of his standing lavishes praise on you, the words really do mean something. 

Speaking on a special video to celebrate some of his greatest achievements over the last twenty years, the 42-year-old singled out Seth Rollins as one of the WWE’s best superstars, calling Rollins one of the best professional wrestlers of this generation. 

Seth Rollins is, in my opinion, one of the best competitors, performers, professional wrestlers of this generation. And I think it is apparent when you watch the matches he’s had with the likes of Dolph Ziggler and Roman Reigns. I’ve had a couple of good ones with him too. I always tell Seth, too, ‘God, you’re good. I forgot how good you are.

The pair memorably feuded in the build to WrestleMania 31 in 2015, when both were embroiled as part of Triple H’s Authority stable. The rivalry led to their meeting at the Levi’s Stadium, in which Orton won with one of his most famous RKO’s. Flipping Rollins from his Curb Stomp stance to catch the soon to be WWE Champion with his signature spot. 

Their last singles encounter came earlier this year, when Rollins defeated The Viper on an episode of Raw in February. 

During the video, Orton also talks about his top ten matches, giving a surprising nod to 2003’s Armageddon win over Rob Van Dam that saw Randy win the Intercontinental Championship – his first major title in WWE.
