Ralph Hasenhuttl claims Southampton 'dominated' Manchester United in Premier League draw

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl felt his side “dominated” against Manchester United once they found their stride at Old Trafford.

United dropped points for the second game in a week as their disappointing return to action following the international break continued against the Saints.

And once again, the hosts threw away their lead, having gone in front in the first half through Jadon Sancho, with Southampton then managing to pile the pressure on towards the end of the first half.

United hung on to their lead going into the break, but it came as no surprise when the visitors hit back immediately in the second half through Che Adams.

And they had their chances to pile on even more misery for their hosts with golden chances to claim a victory as Southampton found it far too easy to cut through United.

Asked whether he was proud of his side’s performance, Hasenhuttl told BT Sport: “Yes, especially for the fact that we had one day less to recover after our game on Wednesday.

“You could feel it in the first half, we had problems with finding the game, we haven’t been fresh enough, it was a little bit of heavy legs.

“It takes a little bit before you get into your rhythm, and then you have to start running and start playing football, and when we started doing this – especially in the second half – we have been a different team, a much better one.

“I think in the end, they had a better first half, we had a better second half, so a draw, we take it.

“Chances from both sides, we had massive ones in the second half, but always when we started playing our football I think we dominated the game, and this was good to watch.”
