Ralf Rangnick can make sure Paul Pogba situation is a thing of the past at Manchester United

Paul Pogba recent comments to the media while on international duty only served to cement the view among Manchester United fans that the midfielder will leave in the summer. Remarks on his poor mental health while at the club and concerns over where he has been used by multiple managers all key issues he aired while away from the club.

With those comments in mind, the media on Friday asked Ralf Rangnick what he thought of the Pogba situation ahead of United's game against Leicester City. The German replied: "I've got enough to do now to prepare the team for the next game, and I don't think it makes sense to interpret or just judge what he has said in an interview, it doesn't make sense, for me it's only important to judge him.

"I heard he said he had played in different positions in the last couple of weeks. Since the game against West Ham on 22 January we have lost three strikers since then, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani - who is injured again and will be out for the next couple of weeks, and on top of that if Paul was still injured himself, with Bruno or Scott McTominay missing, you have to play in a different role. This is normal."

Pogba meant that, throughout his career at United, he has been deployed across the pitch but under Rangnick he has been played at defensive midfield, in a pivot, at the number eight and on the left-hand side. Though he has looked more comfortable as an eight, due to the defensive duties that come with the role he hasn't replicated his form for France.
