Rahmat Erwin Abdullah Wins Gold, Breaking SEA Games Weightlifting Record
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Indonesian weightlifter Rahmat Erwin Abdullah won the gold medal in the 73 Kg men's class at SEA Games 2021 in Vietnam on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Rahmat recorded a total of 345 Kg weightlifting at the National Sports Complex, Hanoi.
The Makassar-born athlete recorded a snatch at 155 Kg and the clean and jerk at 190 Kg. The numbers surpassed his competitors’, namely Anucha Doungsri from Thailand and Muhammad Erry Hidayat from Malaysia.
Anucha Doungsri won the silver with total weightlifting of 321 Kg, while Muhammad Erry Hidayat got the bronze with a total lifting of 316 Kg.
Besides collecting the gold medal, Rahmat Erwin Abdullah also broke the record in the snatch, clean and jerk, and the total weightlifting of the SEA Games. The bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics 2022 managed to improve his own snatch record from 144 Kg to 155 Kg, and the record of his clean and jerk from 177 Kg to 191 Kg.
With a total of 345 Kg weightlifting, Rahmat once again recorded his name as the record holder for the men's 73kg class.
