Cardiff City have not been short on feisty players over the years, with the grit and determination needed to succeed often helping them get into the Premier League but also landing them a few red cards along the way.

It’s part and parcel of football that there is bound to be some players shown a card here and there but it’s much less frequent that you see the red card dished out. However, having a look at some Bluebirds players from over the years reveals there has been plenty who have received one for the Welsh outfit.

While there have been some players who went their entire Cardiff stint without ever seeing one once – Chris Burke, who now plays in Kilmarnock for example – there has also been players like Darren Purse who collected a total of four during their stay in Wales.
