Pupils and staff at Co-op Academy Swinton celebrate new Ofsted inspection rating

A secondary school in Manchester is celebrating after receiving a new rating from Ofsted.

Co-op Academy Swinton has been awarded as 'Good' after a rigorous inspection.

The recent inspection rating has confirmed what students and staff at Co-op Academy Swinton already firmly believed - that the school is a fantastic place for learning and development.

The Ofsted report placed the school's quality of education, behaviours and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, under the 'Good' category, leading to a ‘Good’ rating for its overall effectiveness.

The inspection team also highlighted many other areas where the 11-16 secondary academy, part of the Co-op Academies Trust, is succeeding.

The report said: "Students value the high standards that the school expects of their academic achievement and conduct.''

The report went on to state that: "The school has set out the important knowledge that pupils should learn and when this content should be taught. Teachers are suitably equipped to deliver the curriculum well.''

The report also said: "Teachers design learning that helps pupils, including those who are disadvantaged, to build a rich body of subject knowledge.''
