Pundit praises Liverpool forward Sadio Mane for involvement in EPL win

Former Premier League striker Robbie Keane has praised the involvement of Liverpool forward Sadio Mane in the victory against Burnley.

Albeit the Reds were far from their swashbuckling best at Turf Moor, it was a deserved three points for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Just about keeping pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table, Klopp welcomed Mane immediately back into the starting lineup.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Keane believes that the 29-year-old repaid the call from the German manager.

“Mane has caused real confusion here with Mee. He is not really sure who he is marking, so he’s marking Matip. The run of Mane, he gets drawn to the ball and who scores? Fabinho. Bad, bad judgment by the defenders. But Mane caused a lot of problems.”

Mane earned a 6.70 Sofascore rating for the display but is somewhat unfortunate not to have been credited with an assist for the only goal of the game.

This season the AFCON winning Senegal star has scored 10 times and provided one assist in 27 appearances for the Reds across all competitions.

Despite all of the international exploit over the last month – plus recent celebrations – Mane actually made a bright start to proceedings in Lancashire.

Unsurprisingly the influence began to wane in the second half but it was still a strong showing on a return to the side.

If Liverpool are indeed going to catch Manchester City or win any trophies for that matter,  Klopp will want all of Mane, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino firing on all cylinders between now and May.
