PSV stage dramatic comeback ahead of Leicester City Europa Conference League clash

After a return to Premier League football at the weekend, eyes now turn to Europa Conference League action for Leicester City as they host Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the quarter-final of the competition on Thursday.

City are one of the favourites to go all the way in the competition, but there is still some tough tests that lie in their way before they can make their way to Albania for the final on May 25. Brendan Rodgers’ men overcame a big test in the last round, coming out as 3-2 aggregate winners in a tense two-legged tie against French side Rennes.

In Rennes, City knocked out a team who were full of confidence due to having success in their domestic league. The Red and Blacks are fighting for a Champions League position in Ligue 1 at the end of the season, beating Lyon 4-2 just days before hosting City in the second leg. Just a few days after losing out to City, Rennes came out as 6-1 winners in their Ligue 1 clash vs Mets.

It seems that City will now have to repeat the trick when they take on PSV in the quarter-finals of the competition. Roger Schmidt’s side currently sit in second place in Eredivisie, just three points adrift of leaders Ajax and seven points clear of Feyenoord in third.

PSV had won six in a row in the league, before this weekend's Eredivisie match. The Dutch side have also scored 17 goals in their last five games in all competitions, including a 4-0 win over Copenhagen in the second leg of their round of 16 tie.

The Dutch side's winning run did though come to an end at the weekend as they drew 3-3 against FC Twente. PSV were 3-0 down away from home within the first 25 minutes but completed the dramatic comeback thanks to a 94th-minute equaliser from Oliver Boscagli.
