PSV boss makes 'final' Leicester City admission after Europa Conference League clash

PSV manager Roger Schmidt was pleased with how his side defended against Leicester City in the Europa Conference League quarter-final first leg.

The teams played out a 0-0 draw at the Leicester City Stadium on Thursday evening, with the hosts having the better of the first half. It was a "really big game" for PSV, by their manager's admission, but he was pleased with his team's performance.

Speaking to BT Sport after the match, Schmidt broke down what his team did well and how they will prepare for the second game - which will take place in Eindhoven next Thursday (March 14).

"It's very difficult to play in Leicester. We don't have so much experience at this level. It was really a big game," he said. The way they (the PSV players) played today, how brave they were, how they defended was really good. We deserved a point.

"We had some moments also in attack. I think with a little bit more patience we could have more clear chances, but we had a few. So in the end I think 0-0 is a good result for both teams. Now we have a final in our stadium.

"We played the first match, so before the second match the task is to analyse the game today in a good way to find solutions, especially in attack. We defended well, so they only had two opportunities.

"Otherwise we were really good in the box defending. We will have to find a good match plan for next week and then we have to fight to promote to the semi-final."
