PSL exco to meet after Ramaphosa greenlights 50% attendance at stadiums
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) executive committee will meet early next week after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a lifting of various Covid-19 restrictions.
From Wednesday, 23 March stadiums will operate at 50 percent capacity, allowing fans entry to stadiums as long as they are vaccinated or present a negative Covid-19 test.
However, football supporters will still have to wait as the PSL hierarchy remain stubborn in their approach to spectators' return while cricket and rugby fans have been attending live matches across the country over the past months.
According to FARpost, the committee will meet to discuss whether stadiums will open for soccer fans for the remainder of the season.
"The Executive Committee of the League is meeting on Monday 28 2022 to consider the extent to which the League Covid 19 Regulations can or should be adapted. The existing protocols remain in place until varied by the Executive Committee," read the communique.
There is a total of 66 DStv Premiership matches still to be played, while four Nedbank Cup fixtures that await.
Additionally, Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates still have CAF commitments.
