PS Plus: Sony confirm PS3 games will not support DLC

Sony has confirmed that PS3 games will not support any kind of DLC when they are rolled out as part of the PlayStation Plus revamp.

That also goes for games that can only be accessed via streaming, meaning that a variety of titles in the PS Plus Premium tier will not have their full compliment of features.

PS4 titles can also be streamed but there is also the option of downloading them, meaning that DLC can be supported.

As Video Games Chronicle points out, this has actually been the case since the launch of PlayStation Now, with streaming titles never actually offering the chance of utilising DLC.

However, it may well be a disappointment for a variety of players, particularly those who are planning to pay for the highest possible tier once the PS Plus revamp is rolled out in Europe.

VGC has once again posted the full list of PS3 games coming to the tier and they are as follows.

A variety of these games do have DLC that won’t be available.

Maybe the most glaring omissions will be for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, which had four DLC packs and allowed players to use a new character; MotorStorm had a variety of DLC packs, too, bringing with them a variety of new tracks and vehicles; Resistance 3 had a survival mode added on, and a new soundtrack.

It is helpful, at least, to know exactly what is going on with PS Plus ahead of its European release.
