Proteas skipper Msomi disappointed as World Cup ends with a whimper: 'I don't know what to feel'

Proteas captain Bongi Msomi was visibly disappointed as South Africa ended their Netball World Cup on a losing note on Sunday.

Msomi's side were stunned as they fell short by two goals against Uganda in their fifth and sixth playoff encounter in Cape Town.

The Proteas finished a disappointing sixth at the global showpiece with a 49-47 loss.

"It was important for us to try and give it a good shot. We just gave away too many balls," Msomi told reporters following their defeat.

"But when we drew and levelled the score, they kept the ball and credit to them, they played really well today.

"We're disappointed, and at this point, I don't know what to feel."

The Proteas looked defeated during their loss against Uganda as they failed to get scoring opportunities.

Msomi stated that it was no one's fault but the players as they lacked discipline.

"The sad part is that we knew they were going to do it and we allowed them to. It's sport, sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose some," said Msomi.

"As a group, we need to go back at what it is we need to do, especially in crucial games like this.

"Trust me, we came with a plan, we just needed to execute it. There's no fault in the coaching staff, it's on us.

"We're quite an honest group and mature. There's a few things we should've executed better and I think it was quite visible. We lacked discipline."
