Proteas skipper Luus hails Khaka's 5-star bowling: 'It's unbelievable'

Proteas captain Sune Luus said it was scarcely believable that Ayabonga Khaka had to wait until her 71st ODI to collect her first five-wicket haul.

The 29-year-old Khaka took 5/26 in the second ODI against the West Indies at the Wanderers on Tuesday, figures that helped South Africa bowl the visitors for 160 out before losing in the super over.

Khaka removed the dangerous Deandra Dottin, Kycia Knight and Hayley Matthews before coming back for Chinelle Henry and Shamilia Connell in a spell that swung the game.

"She's been amazing and I can't believe it's only her first five-wicket haul," Luus said.

"She's been a brilliant campaigner for us through the years and she's someone you can count on.

"She's always there, ready to bowl whenever you need her to bowl. She's a real team player and always ready to bowl when needed."

That led to the decision whether Khaka or Shabmin Ismail should bowl the super over that Dottin, who scored 150* in the first ODI and 37 in the second, scored 19 off to give the West Indies a defendable 25.

"There was a discussion between Aya and Shabnim, but we felt that with the latter's experience and that she bowled the over before, she was confident of containing them,"  Luus said.

"She was looser than Aya because she'd bowled the over before and that was the kind of thinking that went behind the move."

Luus admitted that they didn't quite have a plan for the dangerous Dottin, who has picked apart SA's bowlers in both games.

"When Deandra Dottin decides to bat, it's quite difficult to have a plan against her," Luus said.

"You can try to contain her on one side and bowl different lengths to her, but she
