Promising season ends for Saskatchewan Rush in quarterfinal loss against the Toronto Rock
The Saskatchewan Rush's season came to an end on Saturday night, as they fell short 16-13 in the National Lacrosse League quarterfinals to the Toronto Rock.
This loss, which was the first time the clubs faced each other in a playoff match, officially eliminates the Rush who previously led the NLL standings this year.
Austin Shanks led the scoring for Saskatchewan with seven points, three goals and four assists, followed by Robert Church who made three goals and three assists.
Goalie Frank Scigliano also moved into the tenth all-time in playoff minutes played for an NLL goalie.
Earlier this month, the Rush beat the Rock during overtime in the regular season finale, with Brock Haley scoring the game winning goal.
The win secured the Rush Saturday night's home playoff game.
Last year the club advanced to the league finals for the first time since 2018, but lost to the Buffalo Bandits in Game 3, dropping the championship series 2-1.
The Rock face off against the San Diego Seals in Game 1 of the best-of-three NLL Semifinals series next weekend.
The Rush now head into the offseason, until the NLL draft in September.
