Preston North End midfielder Alan Browne reveals hopeful future plans
Preston North End captain Alan Browne has admitted he has ambitions to play in the Premier League one day.
Having only been on the books at Cork City and Preston North End as a professional, the highest level Browne has played at is the English second-tier.
He says, though, like every other player, he aspires to be at the top level, be it at Preston or elsewhere.
“For me personally it’s an ambition of mine, to one day get there,” Browne said via the Irish Examiner.
“I’d like to do that with my current club Preston. If it’s elsewhere then so be it.
“I’d give anything to play at the top level, that’s where every player aspires to be.
“I haven’t done it yet. I’m 26, pushing 27 and there’s not a lot of time left.
“It’s not something I have focused too much on, just stay in the moment, play my current football, which is in the Championship, do my best for my club and see where that progresses.”
Browne has made over 300 apperances for Preston North End since joining the club from Cork City in 2014.
34 of those appearances have come this season, with the Republic of Ireland international scoring three and assisting three in those matches.
Assessing his current form for club and country, Browne admitted feeling he had been a bit unlucky at international level due to illness and injury, but that he felt he had a lot more to give at club level.
“Probably disappointing overall at club and international level, but I think they go hand in hand.” Browne said, assessing his contributions for club and country.
“I’ve probably been more unfortunate at international level. I mentioned before about Covid and injuries and stuff like that and I probably fell out of favour.
“But at club level I still feel like I could do a bit more.
