Premier League's top 10 most expensive Bundesliga signings with Erling Haaland in seventh

Erling Haaland's move to Manchester City has been seen by many as a bargain, with the release clause in his contract meaning he has cost far less than would have been expected.

The Norwegian will link up with City at the end of the season following a two year spell at Borussia Dortmund. But while the £51.1million City are paying Dortmund appears to be cut-price, it does actually make him one of the 10 most expensive Bundesliga signings in Premier League history.

Leading the way is Jadon Sancho, who was bought for £73million by Manchester United from Dortmund last year. That deal completed a long-running saga, with United having seen their attempts to sign Sancho in 2020 rebuffed.

The £73m fixed transfer fee immediately shot him to the top of the list of the most expensive Bundesliga to Premier League transfers. Sancho has struggled to live up to that billing though, scoring just five goals and notching only three assists in all competitions this season.

Close behind him in the top 10 is Kai Havertz, who joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in September 2020 for £71m. For a time that made him the most expensive outfielder in the club's history, before Romelu Lukaku was signed last summer.

Initially, Havertz found it difficult to adapt to the Premier League from playing in the Bundesliga. But he has developed a penchant for scoring important goals, including the winner in last season's Champions League final.

Chelsea feature heavily in the top 10 list, with the player who is number three also being a Blues signing. That man is Christian Pulisic, who was bought in 2019 for £58m, making him the most expensive North American of all time.
