Prediction for Borussia Dortmund vs Rangers: Gers will get chances against leaky Dortmund rearguard

As Europa League draws go, Rangers have been handed a bit of a stinker but we'll at least get an opportunity to gauge the progress of the Scottish champions against one of the continent's elite sides.

The layers certainly don't have particularly high hopes that Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side can make it through their tie with the German Cup holders, with the Gers 13/4 to qualify with Grosvenor Sport. Dortmund are red-hot 2/9 favourites to progress.

Dortmund may be sitting second in the Bundesliga table but they have lost 11 matches in all competitions this term and only three sides have conceded more than the 18 goals that Marco Rose's side have shipped at home. And in Dortmund's last home game? Leverkusen put five past them.

So there are definite grounds for optimism that Rangers can go to the Westfalenstadion and cause the hosts problems. The Gers will also be buoyed by the rumours that Erling Haaland, the world's most coveted striker, will miss the first leg as he continues to nurse a muscle injury he aggravated ahead of the Leverkusen game.

Rangers have been in good goalscoring form of late, racking up 10 goals in three matches since their Old Firm defeat and they will get chances in Dortmund, for all that the hosts are likely to dominate possession. Union Berlin only had 40% possession against Dortmund at the weekend but they still racked up 18 shots, while Leverkusen's five goals came from just 36% possession.

The layers don't give Rangers much hope but much of Dortmund's 4/11 price is based around their reputation and it is is also worth noting that the hosts have drifted slightly from their opening show ahead of Thursday's game.

Dortmund put three past Union Berlin without Erling Haaland and it would be folly
