Practice rounds at PGA Championship suspended on Tuesday due to thunderstorms

Practice rounds ahead of the 106th US PGA Championship were suspended on Tuesday due to thunderstorms at Valhalla.

Players were brought off the course at 0950 local time and torrential rain began falling shortly after, with the rain forecast to continue for the rest of the day.

Tournament officials also cancelled the remaining scheduled player interviews – which included Tiger Woods and Scottie Scheffler – which were due to be conducted in an open-sided tent outside the clubhouse.

Many more players than normal had practised on Monday due to the forecast, including Scheffler following the birth of his first child last week and Louisville native Justin Thomas.

"I'm glad I came and played last week, Sunday, Monday, just not only for my own preparation standpoint but just with how the weather potentially looks today and tomorrow," two-time winner Thomas had said in his 9am press conference.
