Power moves closer to Masters spot with victory over Cantlay

Ireland's Seamus Power is almost certain to make his Masters debut in a fortnight's time after thrashing world number four Patrick Cantlay 5 and 4 at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

Power, who beat Sungjae Im by the same score on Wednesday, began the week ranked 48th in the world and needs to remain in the top 50 on Sunday evening to secure an invite to Augusta National.

Those two victories look sure to keep him in the top 50 and the form he's showing will offer him great encouragement.

Power won the first hole against Cantlay and it was a lead he never relinquished, with the American only managing to win one hole throughout the contest.

Shane Lowry is on course for victory against South Africa's Erik van Rooyen and he's 2 up after 12.

Paul Casey is out of the tournament after conceding his second match of the week, this time without hitting a single shot.

Casey completed two holes of his opening contest with Corey Conners and hit his tee shot on the third before withdrawing due to back spasms on Wednesday.

The 44-year-old had hoped to be fit to face former Ryder Cup team-mate Alex Noren on Thursday but withdrew at the last minute, with a somewhat bemused Noren already on the first tee.
