Poundland announce Christmas truck tour to rival Coca-Cola - and it's coming to Greater Manchester

The Coca-Cola Christmas truck may be the headline grabber at this time of year, but Poundland has announced its launching its own version. And Santa and his Elf will be at the wheel of the Poundland Express.

The Christmas truck will head out across the UK from today - and there's a special competition that may make it worth your while spotting it in all its glory this December.

Poundland bosses have transformed a truck at each of its three main distribution centres in Wigan, Greater Manchester, Springvale near Bilston in the West Midlands and Harlow in Essex. The three trucks will start making deliveries to its stores between today (1 December) and Christmas Eve.

Through the magic of Christmas, each of the trucks will be driven by Santa and his trusty elf, taking advantage of Santa’s experience of being able to be in different places at the same time. Stores set to receive a visit include Urmston, Denton and Blackpool.

The trucks will cover 10,000 miles over the next 24 days delivering presents and gifts to Poundland’s 800-plus stores - and customers will be able to join in the festive fun.

If anyone spots the Santa specials at their local store, if they upload a picture to Poundland’s Instagram, twitter or Facebook sites with the tag #PoundlandExpress and the name of the store, they’ll be in with a shout of winning a £250 voucher to spend at Poundland stores or its website.

The Santa specials have been the brainchild of colleagues working at Poundland’s transport depot at the North Pole, also known as Wigan, working in partnership with local firm ENV Graphics.
