Police want to speak to this man after community centre sprayed with graffiti

Police have released a picture of a man they would like to speak to after a Clayton community centre was vandalised with graffiti.

At around 5pm on Friday, January 20, officers received reports of a male who had sprayed graffiti onto the front of the Beacon Centre on Barrington Street.

The man also attempted to spray graffiti over the CCTV camera located at the community centre building.

Police have shared an image of a male they believe might have information on the incident. Anyone who knows the man, or who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed any suspicious activity, is encouraged to reach out to officers.

People with CCTV images or doorbell footage are also being asked to contact GMP directly.

A spokesperson for GMP Clayton Neighbourhood said in a statement: “On Friday 20 January 2023, at around 5pm officers received reports of a male who had sprayed graffiti onto the front of the Beacon Centre on Barrington Street in Clayton, Manchester.

“Enquiries later established that the male had also attempted to spray over the CCTV camera at the community centre.

“GMP Clayton Neighbourhood officers are appealing to members of the public who may know the male in the image or who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed any suspicious activity.”

Anyone with information can contact GMP directly on 101 or via their website, quoting log 2812 of 25/01/2023. Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
