Police descend and arrest man and woman after receiving 'very concerning information' in tip-off

A man and a woman have been arrested after being found in the possession of a sword.

Police apprehended the pair yesterday (Friday) after receiving 'concerning information' that a serious offence was 'being discussed'.

Each were arrested for a number of offences including on suspicion of threats to kill, possession of offensive weapons, possession of class B drugs and public order crimes. They remain in custody for questioning.

A GMP Heywood spokesman said: "Yesterday we received some very concerning information from our partners of a potential serious offence that was being discussed. We acted instantly and arrested a female and male, both adults, for several offences including Threats to Kill, possession of offensive weapons, possession of class B drugs and Public order.

"Both residents are still in custody and we will be looking to get some charges. This partnership working helps prevent serious violent incidents that lead to fatalities and/or life changing injuries."
