Police concern for missing man, 83, last seen getting into taxi

Police are growing 'increasingly concerned' for the welfare of a missing man last seen getting into a taxi.

The man, named Nar and 83 years-old, didn't arrive at an address he was supposed to be staying at on Friday night, Greater Manchester Police said.

He was last seen on Old Street in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, wearing camouflage combat trousers, a black jacket, a black hat with a Nepal symbol on the front and grey boots.

He was also carrying a camouflage backpack, police added as they issued an appeal for help from the public on social media.

In a Facebook post, GMP said: "Can you help police find a missing man from the Tameside area?

"Nar, aged 83, was last seen on Old Street, Ashton, at around 4.30pm on Friday 8 September 2023. He is believed to have got into a taxi, however, has not since arrived where he was intended to be staying.

"Nar is described as having brown skin, approx. 5’6, medium build, grey hair. He was last seen wearing camouflage combat trousers, a black jacket, camouflage backpack, black hat with Nepal symbol on the front and grey boots.

"Officers are becoming increasingly concerned about him and want to make sure he is safe and well. Anyone with information about Nar’s whereabouts should contact police on 101 quoting log 4397 of 08/09/2023." No further details or his surname have been revealed.
