Police and mountain rescue teams swarm Moorgate Quarry amid incident

Police, mountain rescue teams and paramedics are among the emergency services in attendance this afternoon at Moorgate Quarry in Uppermill.

An incident is currently ongoing, with the area blocked off as emergency crews work at the scene. Pictures showed police and ambulance vehicles in attendance.

It is understood a man has fallen at the quarry, with paramedics initially called out to the scene at around 2.30pm today. Further details are yet to be confirmed.

Specialist mountain rescue units were also deployed to the scene this afternoon.

An air ambulance has left the incident in the last few minutes.

A major rescue mission was underway earlier today after a man, aged in his 80s, suffered a horror fall at the quarry.

A man has been left seriously injured after falling at the quarry this afternoon.

The male, aged in his 80s, has fallen and been rushed to hospital from the scene with multiple injuries.

An air ambulance was also scrambled to the scene. The victim was taken to hospital via road ambulance.

Further details have not yet been confirmed.

An air ambulance, as well as the HART team, incident response units and an operational commander have been dispatched to the scene this evening.

It's understood a man has fallen at the quarry and been left injured.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 2.30pm today, officers responded to reports of regarding concerns for the welfare of a man at a quarry on Den Lane.

"Officers are currently in attendance with colleagues from other emergency services."
