PMQs LIVE as Boris Johnson faces MPs over Ukraine crisis and Covid restrictions

Prime Minister's Questions returns to the House of Commons today after the Parliamentary recess last week.

Boris Johnson will face Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and other MPs at this afternoon's PMQs after imposing financial sanctions on Russia amid the crisis in Ukraine.

The prime minister is facing calls from both sides of the House to go further with the punishment he has doled out to Kremlin-linked oligarchs and banks in response to Russian aggression.

On Tuesday, he announced that three billionaire allies of the Russian President and five Russian banks would face punitive measures.

Earlier this week, Mr Johnson announced his plans for 'living with Covid', which include ending the legal requirement for self-isolation on Thursday and removing free testing for the general public from the start of April.

The prime minister did not go into detail about the future of testing infrastructure, resulting in some confusion around the funding arrangements for the devolved administrations to continue their own testing regimes.

Scotland's first minister Nicola Sturgeon has pledged to continue free testing.

Mr Johnson is also facing continued pressure around 'partygate' allegations and the Met Police investigation into parties in Downing Street.

Labour has branded Boris Johnson a “national embarrassment” after it was suggested he may have become the first British Prime Minister to be questioned under police caution over the partygate saga.

A copy of the police questionnaire sent to Downing Street staff following partygate allegations was leaked to ITV News on Tuesday night.

The Metropolitan Police is investigating 12 events, including as many as six which the Prime Minister is reported to have attended.
