"Player will be disappointed" – Pundit drops claim on surprise out-of-favour Crystal Palace ace

Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Edouard ‘will be disappointed’ at his lack of game time in recent weeks, according to former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer.

The Eagles splashed out £18.5 million to prise Edouard away from Celtic in the summer, but he’s so far struggled to make the desired impact at Selhurst Park.

Patrick Vieira made the 24-year-old one of his first acquisitions after taking over from Roy Hodgson as he set about rebuilding the first-team squad.

Throughout a four-year stint at Celtic, Edouard had impressed, registering 125 goal contributions in 179 appearances for the Hoops, claiming nine major trophies along the way.

And the former France Under-21 international made a big impression at Palace on his debut, bagging a brace against Tottenham Hotspur in a memorable 3-0 victory as an 84th-minute substitute.

However, since then, Edouard has only added four more goals and three assists in his subsequent 21 Premier League outings, resulting in him dropping down the pecking order.

The 6 foot 2 ace has started just two of the capital clubs last six fixtures in all competitions, failing to come off the bench at all on three occasions.

In Edouard’s absence, Jean-Philippe Mateta has become Vieira’s first-choice striker, netting against Watford, and it remains to be seen if he can force his way back into the starting XI.

Palmer believes that Edouard will be disgruntled with his limited game time in south London, although still reckons there’s time for him to showcase his true potential.
