Player of the Month recognition for All-Ireland finalists

The PwC GPA Women's Player of the Month and PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month winners for July/August have been announced, with the recipients from Kilkenny, Meath, Galway and Limerick.

Kilkenny's Katie Nolan and Niamh O’Sullivan of Meath were respectively recognised in camogie and football.

The black and amber edged Cork in a dramatic All-Ireland camogie decider, with Nolan their star performer as the county regained the title by the narrowest of margins.

O’Sullivan delivered a brilliant display for Meath as the Royals defended their All-Ireland title, beating Kerry in the final. Her second-half goal, part of a 1-02 tally, helped turn the tide as they recovered from a slow start to win.

Shane Walsh and Gearóid Heagrty were the respective recipients in football and hurling.

Walsh gave an outstanding performance when he landed 0-09 as the Tribesmen came up just short against Kerry in the Sam Maguire decider. His point-taking and leadership were exemplary, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Kingdom winning a 38th crown.

Hegarty once again delivered for Limerick on the big day, blasting 1-05 in the All-Ireland win over Kilkenny. That took his total in finals to 3-14 as the Treaty competed a Liam MacCarthy three-in-a-row.
