Plane heading to Manchester escorted to Stansted by fighter jets after reports of 'bomb scare'
A plane travelling from Dalaman to Manchester has had to be diverted to Stansted, with flight tracking sites showing two Eurofighter Typhoon jets accompanying it after unconfirmed reports of a bomb threat.
The Jet 2 flight was due to land at Manchester Airport at 9.40pm, but was diverted to the southern airport, where it landed shortly after 9.20pm. Flight tracking websites have shown two RAF Eurofighter Typhoon jets accompanied the commercial flight for part of the journey, and the plane is now parked away from the main terminal.
According to AviationSource, a media outlet designated to aviation-related news, reports suggest that a bomb threat may have been made to the flight, although these reports remain unconfirmed at the moment.

A spokesperson for Stansted Airport said: "The plane has landed safely at Stansted and was met by Essex Police on arrival. It is parked in an isolated stand away from the main terminal."
The Manchester Evening News understands the incident is being led by Essex Police, who have been contacted for comment.
