Pirates take Soweto derby spoils after Maswanganyi's late penalty
The Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs has ended 1-0 in favour of the Buccaneers following a last-gasp penalty in stoppage time.
It was a tense affair, with Pirates having more attempts on goal, but Chiefs gave a good account of themselves in a match in which possession was slightly in favour of Pirates through the 90 minutes.
Jose Riverio's charges were awarded a spot kick deep in stoppage time in the second half after Njabulo Blom was adjudged to have pulled back Relebohile Mofokeng in the 18-yard area. Patrick Maswanganyi stepped up and calmly dinked the ball past Bruce Bavuma in the Chiefs goal.
