Pirates claim Collins from Blue Jays

The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed catch Zack Collins from the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Collins, 27, was designated for assignment on Tuesday after the Blue Jays activated relief pitcher Julian Merryweather off the 60-day injured list.

The Pembroke Pines, Fla., native appeared in 26 games this season where he hit .194 with four home runs and 10 RBIs.

Collins was acquired by the Blue Jays at the beginning of the MLB season from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for catcher Reese McGuire.

The 6-foot-3 catcher batted .195 with 11 home runs and 48 RBIs in 140 career games split between the White Sox and Blue Jays
