Philippe Coutinho’s Aston Villa wish granted as Morgan Sanson situation monitored

Here’s the latest Aston Villa news on Thursday, March 17, 2022.

Philippe Coutinho has been in stunning form for Aston Villa since arriving in the Midlands on loan from Barcelona in January.

The 29-year-old has made seven goal contributions in nine games and looks every bit a world-class talent. After Barcelona smashed their transfer record to sign him just four years ago, it's no surprise that Villa fans have already been treated to some outstanding performances from the diminutive playmaker since he joined, even if he had struggled for form in Spain.

During his first interview with Villa - after he joined on a six-month deal - he made no bones about where he wanted to make an influence under Gerrard. Coutinho said: "I am here to help the team, I played as a number 10, wider also.

It seems that the January arrival’s preference has now been accepted.

Morgan Sanson remains fiercely driven at Aston Villa and believes he can forge a successful career in the Premier League under Steven Gerrard. The 27-year-old is willing to remain patient knowing his last start came two months ago in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United .

The midfielder is struggling to dislodge one of John McGinn , Douglas Luiz and Jacob Ramsey and, despite being prepared to come on against West Ham, failed to make it off the bench for the 11th time this season.

Sanson's situation is now being closely monitored by his agent, Pini Zahavi, one of the most influential figures in the game. The Israeli has brokered some of the most-historic transfers in history which includes Rio Ferdinand's record-breaking £30million deal from Leeds to Man United.
