Philippe Coutinho demanded 'better' from Aston Villa teammates before Brighton win

Philippe Coutinho demanded 'better' from himself and his teammates before Aston Villa returned to winning ways against Brighton Hove & Albion in the Premier League.

Villa had been winless in their last three league games prior to their 2-0 win on the south coast at the weekend.

After losing to Newcastle, defeat to Watford saw players being booed off the pitch by some..

But Coutinho and Co will be hopeful that the much needed win against the Seagulls, will ensure they gather momentum for the upcoming games.

Southampton (H), Leeds (A), West Ham (A) and Arsenal (H) follow next ahead of a busy March.

Speaking to ESPN Brazil in his native language, the 29-year-old admitted the last few weeks had been tough for the club.

"Unfortunately the last few results weren't positive, it was not what we wanted," Coutinho told ESPN Brazil before the Brighton win.

"I think the defeats we suffered are little details we can rectify and do better in the upcoming games. We are all aware of that.

"The good thing about football is that every weekend there is a new opportunity to do better and is something that has been discussed a lot as a group."

Villa will now be keen to build a positive run in front of their fans on home soil when they host the Saints at Villa Park (Saturday March 5).
