Philippe Clement told the ONE Rangers star who should start at Dundee United as Barry Ferguson puts case forward

Philippe Clement has been told the ONE Rangers star he must start at Dundee United this weekend.

The Light Blues return to club action following a derby day drubbing by Celtic before the international break came into play for the first two rounds of the Nations League and other competitions further afield. It's been a tough start to the campaign for the Ibrox men who will be desperate to put things right when they face Jim Goodwin's newly promoted side at Tannadice. They have yet to taste defeat with two wins and two draws with Rangers a point back on their opponents going into the return.

It was a busy summer of recruitment. The activity went down to the wire on deadline day with final arrival Nedim Bajrami checking in at Ibrox from Sassuolo for a reported £3.5million fee. He's been starring for his country during the break and his highlight reel has caught the eye of club hero Barry Ferguson. He reckons he can strengthen the current team but urged caution in terms of time for the new signing settling in. However, knowing he is match-fit, Ferguson wants Clement to throw him straight into the side.

He told Go Radio: "I’m looking forward to seeing him. I saw a bit of him in the Euros and looked back at a few highlights. Look, he looks a very decent footballer but you need to see him in the flesh.

"Scottish football is a difficult place to play your football but by all accounts, I think he can strengthen the team but time will tell. He’s been playing games so I would imagine get him straight into that team on Sunday up at Tannadice.

"The pitch is going to be like a bowling green, throw him in because you've spent £3.5million on him. If you are going to spend that kind of money, he's got to be a certain starter."
