Philippe Clement admits he’s a not a fan of Jose Mourinho’s style.

The Rangers manager is set to face The Special One after his side landed Fenerbahce in the last 16 of the Europa League. Mourinho is gaffer of the Turkish outfit aiming to end Clement’s run in the continental competition. Clement has the utmost respect for the achievements of the Portuguese and the trophies that he has won throughout his glittering career. However, when it comes to Mourinho’s approach to the game and footballing philosophy, he is less enthused.

Asked about his illustrious opponent, Clement said: “Of course he’s somebody who won that many trophies. So there are different managers with different styles. He won a lot of trophies in a certain style. I like even more managers with another style, but the respect is there.

“It’s about winning at the end and he did that at several places with several teams and winning the biggest trophies that you can win in the world. So yeah, it’s normal to respect a lot somebody who did that.”

Pressed on the style reference, Clement said: “He’s somebody who’s more in the defensive and reacting out of that style. I prefer more the managers who go full in their attacking force and playing out of that. But incredible respect in the way he did it. That’s just a personal preference.”

Clement’s team are away from home in the first leg before the Turks head to Glasgow for a second tie that will decide who makes the quarter-finals. The Rangers boss said: “It’s an exciting two games, I think, that everybody is looking forward to. A team with a lot of experience, a lot of quality, a manager with a lot of experience.
