Peterborough football clubs for women and girls as England women celebrate Euro 2022 victory

If England's victory at the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 had you inspired to take up a new sport, or if you've got a young girl who is a budding football star, there are a host of football teams and clubs in Peterborough you can join. It may not be the largest city in the world but with Peterborough United at the forefront, the city is home to football fans and fanatics, both girls and boys.

The Lionesses defeated Germany 2-1 in the Euro 2022 final yesterday (Sunday, July 31) at Wembley after extra-time saw Chloe Kelly scoring the winning goal. People across the county joined in celebrations and for some, it's left them inspired.

We've compelled a list of some of the football teams, clubs and centres in Peterborough where you can kick start your football goals. From Peterborough United, Girls United F.C to Stanground Sports Youth F.C there are a number of opportunities to play in the heart of the city for both young girls and women.

First and foremost is Peterborough United Women who are also known as the Posh women. In all things, girl power, the first Posh team play in the FA Women's National League Division One Midlands and the development squad play in the East Midlands Women's Regional Football League.

Peterborough United also have a girls' team and an academy for young inspiring players to progress further in football and produce players who could later graduate into their first team.
