Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is happy with Joao Cancelo’s new contract and has provided reasoning for his impressive performances.
The City full-back signed a new deal last week, keeping him at the Premier League champions until 2027.

His boss, Guardiola, has admitted that whilst he isn’t involved in negotiations, he is happy to see the defender commit his long-term future.
“Maybe the people won’t believe me, but the decision to extend my contract belongs to the club, I’m not involved. Everyone knows how important he is, this season, last 2-3 seasons.” said the Spaniard.

“We struggled together in the first part, we didn’t agree with things. Part of my mistakes, but now he’s incredible, I’m delighted he’s happy here and can play here for many years.
“He can play many positions, can play every day. He’s beloved, so funny, I’m pleased for him, [James] McAtee, [Josh] Wilson-Esbrand, [Oscar] Bobb.”
The Portuguese star wasn’t a consistent starter when he first arrived in Manchester and Guardiola has provided reasoning for his turnaround to become one of City’s most influential players.
