Pep Guardiola warns Man City players over chaos at Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola believes that Bayern Munich will be more dangerous opponents for Manchester City for the bizarre problems they have run into over the last week.

Thomas Tuchel’s side played well for the first hour at the Etihad in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final but were overwhelmed after that and face a stiff challenge to make the last four at 3-0 down in the tie. Things have unravelled further in the squad since to present a picture of disharmony within a club that sacked their manager during the March international break.

An argument between teammates Sadio Mane and Leroy Sane as they left the Etihad pitch on Tuesday night carried on afterwards and remarkably ended up in Mane punching Sane in the face and earning a one-match suspension from Bayern as an internal punishment. That match came against Hoffenheim on Saturday, where a 1-1 draw left Tuchel highly critical of his side and defender Matthijs de Ligt saying that the only positive for the City game is that things can’t get worse.

Guardiola knows Bayern very well having managed there for three years, and also knows what makes a winning dressing room. The City boss expects the German club to all pull together and use that energy against the Blues when they meet on Wednesday.

“Sometimes you need conflict to make the team more together, I am pretty sure of that. It's not a weak point, it will be a strong point [for them] against us,” he said.

“I know this club perfectly, I can imagine the situation against City, we play there, the players will do their best. Bayern will do their best on Wednesday but I am pretty sure what happened here.
