Pep Guardiola warning falls on deaf ears as Erling Haaland starts for Norway

Norway have opted to start Manchester City striker Erling Haaland this evening for their friendly against Czechia.

City fans have been waiting with bated breath this week after the fitness of Haaland came into question. Last weekend, the forward was substituted late on by Julian Alvarez which sparked the first concerns.

Then, the 23-year-old was spotted in Norway training bent over, appearing to be in some discomfort during the session. Haaland managed to complete his duties but it only served to worry the Blues' fanbase further about their striker.

After the training session, Norway's medical department were quoted as saying that Haaland was suffering 'no problems' after training despite the images to the contrary. It now appears that they have full faith he is okay as the forward starts in front three which includes City's winger Oscar Bobb.

One man who could be unhappy about this decision is Pep Guardiola. The City manager explained prior to the international break that he had warned his players about over-exerting themselves in friendlies.

He said: "They know that they fought a lot and train a lot, a lot of adrenaline and concentration to arrive in this position. They know they are friendly games and they have to handle it wisely.

"Hopefully they can do it." It is unsurprising to see Guardiola urge caution considering City still have the chance to retain their treble this season.
