Pep Guardiola 'targets' Tyrick Mitchell and more Man City transfer rumours

Manchester City are monitoring promising Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell along with other Premier League sides, according to reports. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Selhurst Park and was welcomed into the England squad for the first time on Monday.

Mitchell was called up as a late replacement for Chelsea star Reece James after he withdrew through injury. Having missed only eight minutes in the top flight this campaign, the Palace graduate also has Chelsea looking at him.

Tottenham and Saudi-backed Newcastle are, meanwhile, credited with further interest by The Sun in their report on the England newcomer. Mitchell ranks second for most tackles in the Premier League this season.

Having broken the nine-figure barrier to sign £100million man Jack Grealish from Aston Villa last summer, City were priced out of a swoop for England captain Harry Kane - while they also resisted the temptation to bring in a left-back as Joao Cancelo has since made that position his own.

Mitchell would be one for the present and future there, though, as Pep Guardiola continues to evolve his squad. His transfer fee could possibly even exceed the £50million Manchester United spent on Aaron Wan-Bissaka in 2019.

Elsewhere, it has been reported by The Mirror that Spanish side Barcelona have entered the race to sign City target Raphinha. The 25-year-old Brazil forward also has Liverpool and Bayern Munich chasing his signature.

Speculation over his Elland Road future remains as Leeds continue to battle relegation. West Ham are thought to have had a £55million bid turned down in January.
