Pep Guardiola shakes head at Rayan Cherki's actions as furious Arsenal star bites

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was seen shaking his head after a piece of showboating from Rayan Cherki during Sunday's Carabao Cup victory against Arsenal. City won 2-0 after a brace from Nico O'Reilly.

And Cherki was seen doing kick-ups soon after O'Reilly doubled City's lead at Wembley Stadium. That drew disapproval from Guardiola, who was seen shaking his head after watching the Frenchman showboat.

Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United captain Gary Neville also noticed the reaction from Guardiola on the touchline. The ex-England international had his say while commentating on the final - mentioning the unhappiness of Arsenal defender Ben White at the incident as well.

He said: "I don't think he likes that [Ben] White, I think it's a bit too early for that if I am being honest.

"I think I might have done that myself and he didn't like it either. Pep Guardiola is a professional, confident but not arrogant.

"That was a little bit arrogant from Cherki. He (Cherki) is smiling as well.

"You have always got to remember that Arsenal can get a goal and you start to look silly if you are celebrating with 20-odd minutes to go.

"His team-mates will not think it's a great idea either."

Victory on Sunday is a fifth League Cup victory for Guardiola - the most for a manager in the competition's history. It may also deal a psychological blow on Premier League title rivals Arsenal.

The Gunners are nine points clear of City, but have not won the top-flight title since 2004. Mikel Arteta's side are also trophyless since lifting the 2020 FA Cup.
