Pep Guardiola's fixture nightmare about to become a reality as two new Man City matchdays emerge

Manchester City ended their hoodoo at Tottenham in the FA Cup in January, giving Pep Guardiola his coveted goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

City had lost all five visits to the new Spurs home since 2019, failing to score a single goal - when Guardiola was asked how to top last year's treble win, he said all he wanted was to score a goal at Tottenham. There are currently four available midweek slots to play the fixtures, but two will be taken up by the Champions League semi-finals if City get there. UEFA used to insist on a 'memorandum of understanding' that clubs would not schedule domestic top flight games on the same nights as Champions League fixtures, although this was relaxed in 2022 after the fixture congestion resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.
