Pep Guardiola praises Man City U23s after clinching Premier League 2 title

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has led the congratulations after the club's U23s sealed the Premier League 2 title for a second season running.

Brian Barry-Murphy's team won 3-1 at Leeds United on Friday night to secure the title with a game to spare. Kayky, Cole Palmer and Liam Delap all got themselves on the scoresheet in front of over 18,000 fans at Elland Road.

City will lift the title in front of their own fans at the Academy Stadium following their final game of the season next Friday against Everton. Leading tonight's congratulations was Guardiola.

Addressing the academy players, he said: "I am so delighted for everyone here at Manchester City. You cannot believe how tough it is to win this title, so to do it two years in a row is an incredible achievement.

"It really shows how much hard work goes on at Manchester City’s academy. Moments like this are special.

"I hope all the players and academy staff take some time to reflect on this success and enjoy it. They should be so proud of what they have done.

"The way the team has played this season tells you everything about the attitude and focus of our young players. They work so hard – with and without the ball – and have played some really top football.

"I want to send huge congratulations to Jason [Wilcox], Brian [Barry-Murphy], his staff and everyone who has worked towards this title."
