Pep Guardiola explains Man City tactics as they drop points at Crystal Palace

Pep Guardiola was happy with his Manchester City's side performance at Crytal Palace - and that explains why he did not use any substitutes during the 0-0 draw. The Blues boss said he had no intention of talking to his players after the game because there was nothing to be said.

The draw means that Liverpool will move within a point at the top of the table if they win at Arsenal on Wednesday night. City missed a series of great chances and their final all was often lacking, but Guardiola expressed his happiness with what they did.

"We played a really good game, really good in a difficult stadium and against a difficult side. They have the quality to run and we (sometimes) lost the build-up ball but it was a really good game."

Asked why he did not turn to his subs bench, where he had Raheem Sterling, Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus, he said: "I was thinking about Gabriel and Gundo but the players were playing good in a high, high rhythm. They know that when they play like this there is nothing to say.

"We have five days before Southampton (in the FA Cup). We did everything. What I want from my team is to do better than the opponent.

"We played a fantastic football game in all departments. It was difficult to control their players up front. We created a lot of chances. On another day we will score."
