Pep Guardiola explains Man City mindset for remaining Premier League games

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City will go into their remaining games knowing that one slip could cost them the Premier League title.

City twice led against closest rivals Liverpool at the Etihad but were twice pegged back to mean they had to settle for a draw, dropping points from a winning position for the first time this season. The result keeps Jurgen Klopp's chasers alive in the race, even if it ends their own winning run that had seen them close the gap at the top of the table.

With seven matches left to play, City are in the driving seat and can take confidence from an excellent performance against Liverpool that left them disappointed they had not won the game. However, with Liverpool still in touching distance and waiting to pounce, Guardiola knows that his team cannot afford to think that the Anfield club will suffer any setbacks between now and the end of the season.

"I had the feeling before that win, lose or draw it would not end, I had the feeling before but both teams knew it was massively important and we played for that," he said. "Especially what happens if a chance, to perform like we did was great. Against this opponent we could not expect different.

"We know that right now one game dropped we will not be champions, we know that if we drop we will not be champions, now we know if we drop we will miss something. They have to win all the games too, but today all City and Liverpool fans will see that both teams tried to win the game.

"I think its nice to say that. I was watching the punches, we attack they attack and it’s good for football."
