Pep Guardiola addresses Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan's Man City futures amid uncertainty

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that he is unsure whether Bernardo Silva or Ilkay Gundogan will be at the Etihad Stadium next season.

Gundogan's contract at City is due to expire at the end of the campaign and at this stage it is not clear whether he will remain a player for the Blues. Meanwhile, Bernardo's deal is set to run until 2025 but he previously stated his intention to begin a "new challenge" in his career.

While Guardiola does not know where either mans' future lies, he did insist that he wishes both of them could remain at the club for a long time.

He explained: "I will praise all of them for the game against Bayern Munich, no exception in the XI that we had. But Bernardo, this is not the first season we have together.

"What he is on and off the pitch. He is so sensitive, intuitive, many things and in all the club, not just me, we want the best. We are lucky to have these types of football players as human beings in your team.

"You would love to have him forever and it doesn't matter the position he plays, it doesn't matter what he has to do, his contribution is massive." When asked about Gundogan, Guardiola added: "First, I do not know what is going to happen [with Bernardo or Gundogan] so the club take the lead and decide everything.

"But, the words I had, that I gave to you right now over Bernardo, they can actually be the same with Ilkay. The same for many, many years. He is even my neighbour so what can I say."

Guardiola was speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the Blues' clash with Leicester City.
